BJP says :- A parting gift from UPA to Quattrocchi

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh commented on Bofors case accused Ottavio Quattrocchi proved that the decision to withdraw Red Corner Notice (RCN) against the Italian businessman has been a political move.In a statement, the BJP has described the withdrawal of the NCR against Mr. Quattrocchi as a gift from the UPA Government to the businessman.

Dr Singh said that the Quattrocchi case had become an embarrassment to the government and was a bad reflection on the country’s legal system. In his first comments on the latest development in more than two-decade-old case, Mr Singh reportedly said Saturday that “this is not a good reflection on the Indian legal system that we harass people, everyone says that we have no case. ”

According to the BJP, it was a futile attempt to defend the “indefensible” act of investigation of the Central Bureau of the MRC to withdraw Mr. Quattrocchi.

The BJP has pondered if the world does not look to India not to hang Afzal Guru, who obtained the death penalty in case of attack on Parliament. Claiming that the Congress wanted to Afzal Guru for the vote bank politics and Mr. Quattrocchi because of its proximity to the Nehru-Gandhi family, the BJP said both decisions proved “Congress ka haath aur Afzal Quattrocchi to Saath” (with Congress Quattrocchi and Afzal). had said that the Quattrocchi case had become an embarrassment for the government and was a poor reflection on the country’s legal system.
